ECB Reportedly Prioritises IPL Commitments Over Pakistan ODI Series
According to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), players may be eligible to complete their franchise requirements prior to joining the team.
Instead of returning early for the five-match ODI series against Pakistan next year, England’s contracted players may be allowed to remain in India for IPL 2027 responsibilities.
The IPL 2027 is expected to take place between March 10 and May 15, but the BCCI may change the schedule.
Despite the Pakistan ODI series, English players may stay in India for the 2027 IPL.
It is worth noting that from May 15 to 26, 2027, England will host five One-Day Internationals versus Pakistan. The first game will take place on May 15 in Southampton. The next games will take place in Manchester, Leeds, Chester-le-Street, and Cardiff, in that sequence.
Pakistan’s ECB visit in 2027 may conflict with the 2027 IPL.
For England players who may continue to play in the IPL until the competition’s conclusion, this could provide commitment issues.
According to a recent Cricinfo piece, the ECB will allow players to fulfill their IPL responsibilities in India rather than requiring them to return early for the ODI series.
Future advancements, however, will be contingent on the final IPL 2027 schedule and player availability.
It is worth noting that, despite being selected in the auction, some England players, like Harry Brook and Ben Duckett, have previously voluntarily withdrawn from the IPL.
Before the 2027 season, a number of England’s white-ball talents have been connected to IPL franchises. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s roster includes Brydon Carse, David Payne, and Liam Livingstone.
Jofra Archer and Sam Curran are fast bowlers for the Rajasthan Royals. However, Jamie Overton is associated with CSK, and Will Jacks is associated with the Mumbai Indians.
