Auqib Nabi Gets India ODI Squad Call-Up for New Zealand Series
In India’s first three One-Day Internationals against New Zealand, Prasidh Krishna will be replaced by Jammu and Kashmir seam spinner Auqib Nabi.
The Karnataka cricketer is currently recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the home series against the West Indies. His absence comes at a vital time in the team’s preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Prasidh Krishna has been India’s best ODI wicket-taker in 2026, with 16 wickets in nine games, and he has developed into an important member of the Indian ODI team.
Prasidh’s involvement in the team is regarded to be more important for the two-match Test series that follows the ODI phase of the series, according to News 18. According to a BCCI source, Prasidh will undergo fitness testing and match simulation at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru before his clearance is approved.
Auqib Nabi has already arrived in New Zealand as a member of the India A side, which will play three four-day matches against New Zealand.
He was one of the top performers in the first game, taking three wickets in both innings and hitting an important 38 off 63 balls in the second. However, the match ended in a tie with India. The umpires canceled the match due to low lighting, despite the fact that they were only one wicket away.

Auqib Nabi was only chosen for the fourth and fifth games of the New Zealand series before making his ODI debut for India against the West Indies in Guwahati. The Test regulars were rested for the final two games, therefore he was part of a second-string team. In the absence of captain Shubman Gill, who will take over for the first three games of the series, T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer will lead the squad for the remaining two games.
